Firstly whomever was attending reception that day was most unwelcoming and seemed irritated at our intrusion. At another point he was speaking to someone on the telephone in a very unproffessional manner, particularly in front of customers. More importantly we were very disappointed with a number of factors regarding our accommodation. Upon arrival we were told that we had been put at the top of the building as we both looked 'fit and healthy'. My friend a retired school teacher is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatment and is understandably rather fragile, in addition to this I have a broken arm. We immediately asked if we could have another room but were told that none were available. We were also disappointed to find that contrary to your advertisement we were to be housed in a building without any communal living area. This building had damp patches and was not modern. Our room was indeed at the top of the old house. This was up a steep and angled staircase. We managed to get up with our luggage, however on leaving that evening i fell down that staircase, I was extremely lucky not to do any further damage to my broken arm or any other part of my body, however I did crack my new phone. Expecting to find a 'bright and airy bedroom', upon entering the we found ourselves in a small cramp space - which certainly did not have 'fresh, modern decor'. The wallpaper was old woodchip and there were pieces missing. The furniture was very old, the chair had the stuffing bulging out and the bed had no legs and was stained. Your literature asked us to clean our cups after use. Consequently we did not use the cups provided, as we have felt that they were unsanitary due to the fact there was no washing up liquid and they were cleaned in a dirty bathroom. Much worse than this we were met by the most awful odour. The bathroom and bedroom smelt like a used and un-flushed toilet. We opened all the windows, and left the bathroom extractor fan on. This did nothing to alleviate the smell. In order to be able to sleep there that night we purchased a bottle of bleach and set about cleaning the very dirty bathroom. This certainly helped, although I would suggest you invest in some drain un-blocker as the water blocked in both the sink and the shower drains. However the worst was yet to come. We found white stains on the quilt cover. It was appalling. We felt trapped in a dirty little room and couldn't wait to leave.
Nice size bathroom towels.
Dirty, smelly, worn out dirty furniture bed and bedding. White stains on quilt cover. Reception shuts at 5 so there's nothing you can do about it. I have tried over and over to post a review on their website, so unless I'm missing something... I can't work out how or if you can do it. I have seen lots of photos however on other websites with reviews... And the vast majority show dirt and scruffy rooms, chipping paint etc.
